Oktah Neue — Neutral Geometry, Real Range
Oktah Neue is a geometric sans serif released in 2019 by Groteskly Yours. Since its release, it has received two major updates, with the most recent in June 2022. The latest version comes in 22 styles plus one variable font, built for clear typography where consistency and restraint matter.
It keeps the best traits of Oktah—great legibility, simple geometric letter shapes, and low contrast across all styles—while addressing what Oktah lacked: extensive language support and stronger OpenType functionality. The family aims for neutrality without losing its distinct voice. Some characters remain familiar; others were redrawn to better suit the wide implementation range of Oktah Neue.
Over time, the character set expanded to 2500+ characters. It includes Extended Latin and adds new systems: Extended Cyrillic, Greek (Basic and Polytonic), and Hebrew. The Cyrillic set also covers localised forms for Bulgarian, Serbian, and many others. Oktah Neue is well-kerned with more than 3000 kerning pairs and is automatically hinted. Two styles—Ultra Light and Black Italic—are available as free downloads. The variable font includes both axes, Slant and Weight, in a single file.
